Sing To Me…
Zephaniah 3:17 NKJV
The LORD your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.”
I read this scripture about 10 years ago and it hit me like it had never hit me before. I paused and thought to myself, “God Sings?” I mean there it was right in front of my eyes: “He will rejoice over you with singing”. I wonder what God sounds like when He sings. Now we all have some favorite singers I’m sure but I’d imagine that they can’t compare to the sound that heaven makes when God sings. This is yet another glimpse of God’s glory that will fully be revealed when we all get to heaven. We can’t hear Him singing yet but through His Word we know that He is. But God not only sings but the scripture says He rejoices over you. Now we may not know what His singing voice sounds like but we know what it means to rejoice. In this particular instance, rejoice or joy (KJV) comes from the Hebrew root word “Gheel” which literally means to open your arms and spin around in circles full of emotion. Thats the way I feel when I’m proud of my children. When my son and my daughters do something that make happy, I become completely emotional and I pick them up and swing them around in the air. That’s exactly how our Heavenly Father feels about us. He’s excited about us. He joys over us. He sings about us.
Father it is our prayer that we live our lives in a consistent effort to make you proud. It’s all we live for.
